Never too late

We never really got to explore the blog as much as we would have liked but we will use it now to help keep our Jackson and Kay R. Pace SOTA families informed of the transitions coming our way. The first is an introduction to the new principal of “The” James A. Jackson Elementary School, Dr. William Greene. Read Dr. Greene’s welcome letter from Jackson’s website below.

“I look forward to building upon the strong foundation started by our school’s first principal – Dr. Donna Jackson. As a father and 27-year veteran in education, I know how important it is to find comfort in knowing that your child is receiving a quality education in a safe and nurturing environment. Our goal is to provide our community with that confidence as we strive to “grow” each child and become the highest performing elementary school in our district.

As we start this year, please note that research shows that parental involvement in a child’s educational process tremendously benefits the child. These benefits include higher levels of academic achievement, positive attitudes, and greater maturity and responsibility. Because the benefits are so powerful, I urge you to take part as much as possible in the life of our school. It takes an entire village to raise a child and “The” Jackson Elementary School community can be one of the strongest communities around with your help.

Our entire school team looks forward to the opportunity to work with returning parents and getting to know new parents as we engage in the educational process together. The “elementary” years are critical times of development for students and families alike, and we look forward to working with each of you to make this year the best school year ever!

This year will be exciting as we will have two elementary schools operating on our campus for the first half of this school year. The performing arts magnet was approved as its own school in May. They are now officially Kay Pace School of the Arts and will be relocating to the campus of M.D. Roberts Middle School after our winter break. Communication between all stakeholders will be extremely important during this transition and we appreciate your support and assistance in advance.

Lastly, we will host a “Open House” on Thursday, August 2nd at 1pm. Parents will be able to become familiar with school-wide expectations, meet their child’s teacher and get bus and parent pick-up information.   The first day of school is Monday, August 6th. Parents are encouraged to drop off children no later than 7:30 am each day to ensure they receive breakfast before class.

I look forward to meeting each of you!”
